Against all odds, it actually worked.
After five days without a washing machine, a utility room flood, far too much detective work and the discovery that a rogue £1 coin had punched a hole through the tub, I finally attempted the repair.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t entirely convinced it would survive the first wash.
But here I am in freshly washed clothes and the machine is currently working its way through load number five.
The laundry crisis is officially over.
