This Norlund Voyageur hatchet was my dad’s back when he was in Scouts. Norlund axes were later produced in Pennsylvania by the Mann Edge Tool Company, built as lightweight “voyageur” style hatchets inspired by the French-Canadian canoe traders. Meant to be carried, used, and put to work. This one definitely lived that life. I cleaned it up, re-hung it, and brought the edge back, not to make it look new, but to make it ready again. Now it’s heading to the next generation, just in time for my son’s Eagle Court of Honor. Some tools don’t need to be retired. They just need to keep going.
