📝 Description

Shannon McCoole, a childcare worker from South Australia, was unmasked as the administrator of The Love Zone -- one of the dark web's most infamous predator communities -- in 2014. Rather than taking the site down, police assumed his identity online for months after his arrest. They did the same in 2016 following the arrest of Benjamin Faulkner, a Canadian man who also served as the "tech expert" for an infamous Australian criminal. By the time Faulkner's largest site was taken offline, 1 million profiles had been registered.
