Characters who had their Genders Changed:
Starting off we have Tina Belcher from Bob’s Burgers, in the pilot she was originally a boy character named Daniel Belcher. Daniel was changed to Tina because producers did not want 2 sons in the family, so they scrapped Daniel for Tina.
Next is Terk from Disney’s Tarzan. Terk was originally written as a boy in the drafts of the film, but due to Rosie O’Donnell’s impressive audition, they decided to base the character off of her and re-characterized Terk into a female.
Dory from Finding Nemo was originally written as a Boy, but after director Andrew Stanton appeared on Ellen show, he was impressed by her speaking ability, gave her the role, and made Dory a Girl.
This next one is a Technicality, since Bluey was never a boy in early development, she was always a Girl, but technically the Original pitch of the Show was about Rusty and was originally supposed to be an Adult Comedy series.
Disney’s Chicken Little was originally supposed to be a Girl based off of Dire
